Europe Accommodations

What most travelers don't know is Europe accommodations cost can be kept to a minimum if you know what to look for. There are many different accommodation options for you to chose from. Hostels and hotels are normal means of accommodations for travelers. Below a list of accommodations are listed giving you different ideas as to which you could stay at. I wan't to point out that the accommodation options listed below are by far the cheapest means of staying in Europe.

Cheap Accommodation Options

The cheapest and most inexpensive Europe Accommodations are campgrounds and hostels, then student dorms. When traveling to Europe, you will find many chain type hostels available although guesthouses and BB’s are more traveler friendly and offer more to the tourist. Hostels offer the greatest amount of networking and finding the cheapest travel deals as many of the occupants who stay in them are looking for the cheapest deals. If you are traveling with a large group, I recommend staying at a cottage as they offer the best bang for your buck if you are planning to stay for an extended period.
Make sure to book your vacations well ahead if you plan to travel during peak holiday seasons such as summers or other holidays. You would be surprised but many places including campgrounds could fill up quickly. Camping is one of the more popular things to do in the western part of Europe as they experience warmer weather throughout the year. The only charge you will have to worry about when camping is the charge per tent or some establishments charge per person. Camping in other than designated areas for camping is difficult. In addition, I do not recommend doing this because these grounds have not be inspected and approved. Staying in a hostel offers the best and safest secure roof over your head. Most of the hostels in Western Europe are affiliates of the Youth Hostel Association and Hostelling International. Some hostels will allow older individuals over 26 to stay in the hostels for a small surcharge of 3 Euro, sometimes a little more. If camping and hostels are out of the question Europe, boast some of the best resorts that money can buy. Ask around for travel deals, as your dream ski vacation to the Swiss Alps can be half price if you can settle for accommodations in Germany at a ski resort.

Information on Hostels

A quick word on staying at hostels. Some hostels have curfews and daytime lockouts. I have stayed at a few and it is not the best thing to have to deal with. When booking your hostel, be sure to ask about the rules such as curfews and lockouts so you will not come back from a wonderful day of touring and be locked out of your room. Some of the hostels on the website listed above are a part of a private hostel group. This means less rules will be imposed and you will have a lot more freedom when touring. Some even offer a breakfast in the price (which is good). I do not really stay on the subject of hotels because the cheapest rates you will find for Europe accommodations are hostels or campgrounds. However, if you plan to stay in a hotel, I have a couple tips. If you are looking for discount hotels, you will normally find them around bus and train stations. Be sure to look at your room before you actually pay for it and ask about the EXACT price when you are about to purchase it. I have fallen into a trap where I was told one price and never questioned it and then ended up paying a lot more. Also, always make sure you ask the hotel to show you a cheaper room if you cannot afford the room being shown to you. Sometimes employees of hotels in Europe are always trained to show the customer the most expensive room Europe accommodations available at the time. If business is slow, this is a great time to stay at a hotel. Hotels in Europe have been known to cut prices by 60% for a Friday and Saturday nights on a slow business week.
