Europe Activities

If you are traveling to Europe, you will find no shortage of Europe activities to participate in. The unique geography and climate provides an abundance of outdoor activities that include; windsurfing, boating, and skiing. During the winter, most Europeans head off to Europe's most sought after ski destinations.

The favorite amongst most Europeans is cross country skiing. But I would like to point out that a ski vacation will cost almost twice as much as a summer vacation. But do not let this scare you away, Europe has a variety of ski destinations such as the French and Swiss Alps. If you plan plan a ski vacation, it is suggested that you book your trip in Eastern European countries such as Romania, Bulgaria, Slovania or the Czech Republic. These destinations although with limited ski facilities are emerging as Europe's newest and finest ski destinations.

Skiing

The first activity I will review and is most popular with tourists is skiing. As I traveled through Europe and I am sure you will see, many Europeans swarm to hundreds of resorts during the winter season mostly arriving in the Alp’s and Pyrenees for the best downhill skiing and snowboarding. However, you have to bear in mind that a ski vacation in Europe could be very expensive venture
Costs such as lift fees add quite a strain on your vacation budget. The good thing about skiing in Europe is the cost of renting equipment is relatively inexpensive. To save some money, I recommend going for one of the cross-country courses offered at a resort, as they are a lot cheaper because you will not have to rely on lifts. I would like to point out to you that a ski vacation in Europe will normally cost twice to three times as much as summer vacation of the same length so make sure you save more than what you think you may need. The skiing season will normally last from December to late March and slight into April in some cases. Be sure to note that snow conditions are not always the same from year to year so always call ahead to check before you go. The most expensive ski resorts are in the French and Swiss Alps. Germany also has some of the most expensive skiing accommodations in Europe but has one of the cheapest alternatives, which are not as spectacular. Black forest and Harz Mountain are alternatives to ski resorts and they offer group packages that are at discounted rates. Boating

If you are into to boating you, Europe has many lakes, rivers, and coastlines for you to travel along and enjoy sights that could only be found Europe. From house, boating in France to kayaking in Switzerland Europe has some of the most spectacular boating experiences in the world.

Hiking

Hiking is one of my favorite hobbies Europe activities and let me tell you I have hiked in many places, but Europe offers the best hiking in the world. The Alps offer the best hiking experience as the trails are clearly marked and during certain seasons, you will be able to find food and accommodation along the trail. For short day hike’s, I recommend asking the local tourist office as they will have the most up to date maps and information for your hiking pleasures.

Surfing???

I bet you did not know you could go surfing in Europe well unbelievably, you can. The best surf will be found southeast of England and the Westside of Scotland. Spain also offers a great beach for windsurfing on both the north and southwest of the coast.
