Hostel
There are Youth Hostels that you could stay in that are located in England and Wales. The Youth hostel rates can differ depending on what type of room you plan to stay in. Prices for a single dorm bed can cost from 10-20 pounds per night. Some of the Youth hostels also offer single rooms if you would rather not share a room but expect prices to be higher if you plan to stay in one such room. If you do not want to stay in a Youth hostel, there is an abundance of independent hostels that are available all throughout Britain. The quality and the amenities offered at each of these hostels vary depending on what hostel you decide to stay at. If you plan to stay at one of these hostels, you can expect to pay anywhere from 10-25 British pounds. Some are for those who like to party and some are for those who prefer a quiet setting. Call ahead to your hostels receptionist to find out what amenities are offered and what you could expect when traveling.
Hotel
Hotels offer the most amenities but, at the most prices. Prices for hotels can depend greatly on what hotel you plan to stay at. Some of the cheaper hotels can cost as little as 20 British pounds. If you plan to stay at a luxury hotel, prices can start from 70 British pounds and up. All these prices also depend on what time of the season that you are traveling in. If you want to save the most money while staying in a hotel, try to travel during off peak seasons, such as the summer months of June and July.
Camping
Camping is the cheapest and easiest means of accommodations. In some parts of Britain, you can find free campsites to pitch a tent. However, these areas are normally located in rural areas and far away from many tourist destinations. If you plan to stay at a paying campsite, you could expect to pay anywhere from 3-15 British pounds per night. These prices vary so greatly because some camp site’s offer amenities that others do not have such as hot showers.
Getting Around Britain
Here is a list of transportation option you will have when travel Britain.
Bus
By far, buses are the cheapest way to get around Britain but they can also be slow. I found this to be a good thing because this gave me enough time to take pictures. You can find bus systems operating around most of the major cities and towns throughout Britain. Prices can be, as low as one British pound that will take you too most points of interest in the city. Bus passes that you will allow you to ride on a bus for 7, 14, and 28 days are available to non-British tourists. There is a discount for travelers under the age of 26, which will cost the traveler 10 British pounds.
Cars
Although it may be one of the quickest ways to get around Britain, it is not recommended that you rent a vehicle while traveling to Britain. Often time’s there is no parking and the price of gas is high. In addition, most travelers from different countries have problems adapting to driving on opposite sides of the street.
Train
When traveling by train in Britain, you will have the opportunity to see most of Britain’s countryside. The best part of traveling by train in Britain is, the trains normally stop in the city centers. Therefore, you will arrive by train and be in the heart of your destination. Britain is still upgrading in terms of train travel and most trains are being upgraded to faster more comfortable means of travel. Although this is great for tourist, it will eventually raise the prices of tickets and train travel will eventually become a more expensive means of transportation.
