Travel To Switzerland

Travel to Switzerland and enjoy Switzerland travel tips that will help you save. First, a little background on Switzerland. Switzerland is famous for its rich chocolates and its creamy cheeses and this is one of the original European countries’ where people would go to ski for fun. However, Switzerland also has a more interesting side as it has also known for its inventing of LSD and absinthe and well known for its secret bank accounts. The country is host to a wide variety of people speaking different languages to include French, German, Italian, and Romansch.

Words To Know

Gruezi; Which means hello

Merci Veilmal; Thank you

Adieu; Goodbye

Sprechen si Englisch?; This is German and it means do you speak English

For the most part when you travel to Switzerland, you will notice many mountains. This is because mountains make up about 71% of the country. With that being said, there are many areas where you will see farms and cow’s grazing around the countryside. When most people think of Switzerland, they think of the Swiss Alps. These mountains will be seen on the southern and central parts of the country. If you decide to hike on these mountains, you will more than likely run into a local animal called ibex. It is a type of mountain goat with huge horns that spiral around its towering head. It is a beautiful site to see and I recommend taking a picture if you happen to run into one. The Swiss people are a very environmentally friendly population. You will notice that many people recycle trash and the government suggests the use of public transportation in order to cut down on emissions. The country is evenly split between religious views, as half are Roman Catholic and the other half are Protestantism. When it comes to art, Switzerland is not one to look down at. Many of Europe’s most brilliant artists such as Voltaire, Byron, and Shelley have settled in Switzerland.

Switzerland Culture

When Travel to Switzerland, you'll notice culture is unlike any other culture in Europe. The population of 7 million is made up of a tight knit community. People are kind, polite, and even friendlier when they see tourists. The Swiss people prefer to live in peace and tranquility and you will hardly find any crime-taking place during your travels, as the Swiss are law-abiding citizens. This is what makes Switzerland culture so unique. When meeting with people in Switzerland, always be sure to shake hands with them and when you meet with friends be sure to kiss them on both cheeks when saying goodbye. The Swiss love to drink and it is proper to only toast when all people at the table have raised there glasses. Also when toasting, make sure to look the person in the eye. The Swiss believe that if you do not toast right, you will end up having a bad sex life. In some places of Switzerland, you would be able people wearing traditional costumes. This is mainly part of the Alpine tradition, which also includes playing the Alp horn or more commonly known yodeling.

Foods

When you Travel to Switzerl the culture extends beyond the people, its in the food as well. But if your lactose and tolerant you may find that you will find a hard time enjoying many of Switzerland’s foods as most of the dishes made are from dairy ingredients. The main dish is known as fondue and let me be the first to say it is delicious. Many dishes include a lot of meat and veal is used throughout the country. For those who prefer "chain" restaurants, which are cheaper, Switzerland offers a lot. These restaurants have a large selection of freshly cooked foods at lower prices. If you are on the go, I recommend stopping at one of the main street stalls as they offer a quick fix for your hungers, I had a great kebab from one;)"Coops" as they are called are supermarket chains that are established in most parts of the country. If you want to go to a restaurant, you will have to be mindful of the time of day that you want to go. Restaurants that I attended closed between 3pm and 6pm. You will find a lot of these outside of the city but very few in the city. If you are in need of coffee, cafes normally stay open all day. I encourage you to go out and enjoy Switzerland culture, believe me, you will have the time of your life.

Switzerland Weather

Just like any other European country, Switzerland weather can be tricky and unpredictable. However, for a majority of the time, you can expect to enjoy plenty of clear beautiful sunny days. As you may know, winters in Switzerland can be cold and temperatures can easily drop into the low levels. During the summer season, you can expect to see a wide range of weather from rain to sunshine. From 70 to 77 degrees Fahrenheit. Keep in mind when traveling to Switzerland, the weather can vary due to the change in altitude. I would recommend that you bring a pair of clothing for cold weather as well as summer weather.

When To Travel

This is the big question I am sure you are asking. When deciding to travel to Switzerland many people want to know what the weather is like through ought the year. Switzerland weather all depends on where in Switzerland you are traveling. For example, I have taken a trip to Ticino Switzerland in the summer and noticed that the temperature was a lot warmer than the majority of the country due to it having a Mediterranean climate. If you so decide travel to Switzerland, here is what you should know. If you plan to travel from the months of December to April, you will enjoy an abundance of winter sports. If you plan on from May to November, you will find that this is the best time for sightseeing and hiking. Some resorts close down during these sightseeing months, as they are only open when the winter sports season is open. Be sure to bring some extra money for skis if you plan to ski as the cost of renting skis could run from 20sfr all the way up to 30sfr. I am sure, whenever you decide to travel; you will have the time of your life when in Switzerland. However, always take note of weather conditions beforehand to ensure you are prepared.
