Travel to Finland

Travel to Finland and enjoy different European countries in one single place. Finland is squeezed between neighboring countries such as Sweden and Russia. When you travel to Finland, you will enjoy the peace and serenity of this beautiful country filled with lakes and forest that seem to travel all the way up to the Baltic Sea coast. This country is definitely for the outdoor type tourist, as nature seems to be all around you throughout your travels. You can the many activities that Finland has to offer such as cycling and ice-skating on one of the many frozen lakes. Be sure to bundle up as the Baltic Sea brings in a cool crisp breeze that seems to run all throughout the year. However, during the summer months, you can expect to have warmer weather perfect for outdoor water activities. Also during the summer, I recommend you stop and enjoy one of the many music festivals that Finland has to offer.

Welcome To Finland

Finland is a great place to travel to and there is alot of things to do for tourist. I invite you to read this page and see how you could travel to finland in style and on a budget.

Finland Accomodations

If you plan to stay in Finland, by far the cheapest accommodation prices that you will find will be at campgrounds. Many of the campgrounds are only open from June to August and during the summer months; you could expect a lot more campers to be present at your campgrounds. If you plan to camp, expect roughly 8-12 Euro a night for a stay. An abundance of hostels are offered throughout Finland and offer the second cheapest prices if you prefer staying in enclosed sleeping courters. Some of the hostels are only open for half the year and the rest are only open during the summer months. You could expect to pay roughly 12-55 Euro if you plan to stay at a hostel. The price will be different depending if you want a single room dorm or a private dorm. The costs of these hostels and campgrounds will vary due in part to the season you may wish to travel.

Getting Around

There are many ways to get around when you are traveling to Finland. Below is a list of options that you will have when you arrive to this beautiful country.

Bus

Many bus companies operate throughout Finland. You can pay the driver or you could book your ticket at the bus station or the local travel agency. Just like many other European countries, fares are based upon the distance that you plan to travel. For a short trip of 60 miles, which would get you a regular ticket, it would cost 14.25 Euro’s. Return tickets tend to be cheaper.

Bicycle

Finland is the perfect candidate to ride bikes. The country is relatively flat and locals are mindful of bicyclist. You will find an abundance of bike paths spread out throughout the country. If you plan to rent a bike, you can expect to pay anywhere from 10 Euro’s for a day or 50 Euro’s for a week. Normally, your accommodation receptionist should have a list of where to rent bikes.

Train

Finland train system offers tourist a fast, efficient, and cheap means of transportation around the country. Tickets can cost anywhere from 24-65 Euro’s and this all depends on when and where you want to travel. If you want to travel on an overnight train, you can expect to pay 73 Euro’s for a ticket. A good option for tourist is to get a Finnrail Pass, which is a one-month pass good for unlimited travel throughout Finland. With this pass, you have the option of traveling for 3, 5, or 10 days. The cost will range from 123, 153, and 220 Euro’s for the 10-day pass.

Finland Activities

Finland offers some of the best great outdoor activities that any European travel destination can offer. The country seems like it was built specifically for outdoor sports. You will find the best hiking and outdoor cycling in the months of June to September.
I want to point out that you may encounter many mosquitoes during the month of July so be sure to get some bug spray. When hiking through Finland, it is free to stay in any of the Wilderness huts that you see as long as someone else is staying with you. If you want to enjoy some water sports, Finland offers a lot. You can normally find a canoe and kayak rental business along most of the lakes in the country but most can be found near campgrounds. Skiing is another huge sport in Finland and I recommend digging in and trying some fine downhill skiing. The ski months run from October to April. Any snow activity that you can think of, it is offered in Finland and thats what makes travel to Finland great.
