Travel to Hungary

If you plan to travel to Hungary, you will enjoy an abundance of open-air thermal spas while looking at the beautiful snow that has fallen around you glistening from all angles. The best part about Hungary is the abundance of roman ruins and ancient castles that you could go explore.

Welcome To Hungary

The capital of Budapest is known worldwide for its excellent historical buildings and a beautiful river flowing throughout the city. You can expect prices to be relatively average compared to many of Europe’s top destinations. Read below and find out why you should travel to Hungary.

Hungary Accommodations

The great things about looking for accommodations in Hungary is that there are over 400 campgrounds for you to camp in but, some of them are really hard to reach unless you have some type of transportation availible. If you want to stay in a hostel, please note that prices will be slightly higher if you travel during the high summer months. The cheapest hostels that you will find will be in dorms and sometimes they offer private rooms as well. Be sure to check with the local tourist office, as they will have a huge list that will give you hostels that you could stay in for the duration of your travels. If you want to stay in a hotel like accommodation, then I recommend that you stay in what the Hungarian people call a quaint. These are generally less expensive as a hotel and offer many things a hotel does such as a breakfast buffet. If you find yourself looking for accommodations just as you arrive in Budapest, you will more than likely to come in contact with someone offering a private hotel for you to stay. These are definitely some places you do not want to stay in, as they are not up to the standards of other accommodations in Hungary. Your best bet is talk with the local tourist office, as they will have legitimate accommodations for you to stay in.

Getting Around

There are many ways to get around when you are traveling to Hungary. Below is a list of options that you will have when you arrive to this beautiful country.

Bus

You’ll discover when traveling in Hungary that buses may be your only option and they are a great means of transportation and offer excellent means of transportation. Bus fares cost around 1400 Hungarian forint per 60 miles. You will find time’s posted at the main train stations or stops throughout Hungary. Be on the lookout for words such as naponta meaning daily and munkanapokon, which means on workdays.

Cars

Most of the large rental car companies are located in Hungary. Most of which are located in Budapest and offer reasonable car rental prices.

Train

The public train system offers a fast means of transport around the country at an affordable rate. The cost for a second-class ticket on one of these trains will be reasonably cheaper than most of European countries rail systems. Intercity trains offer the most comfortable and nicest means of transportation while the faster trains use older train cars, which are not a good as the inner city.

Local Transport

If you plan to stay within the local area such as visiting Budapest, you will find an abundance of transportation available at your disposal. Most of the transportation systems are fairly cheap, efficient, and reliable.

Sights To See

Hungary has a lot of eye candy that it can offer to tourists and here are a few that you may want to look at when you travel to Hungary:

Gellert Furdo: This is the city’s most famous thermal spas, which are located in the city of Budapest. Admission to enter the spas is free and they are open from 6AM-7PM Monday through Friday.

Aquincumi Muzeum: This place houses some of Hungary’s most treasured roman ruins. Many old Roman towns are still intact and are a sight to see. This destination is open from Tuesday through Sunday 10AM-5PM

Hungary Activities

A must that I recommend you do is go to one of the hundreds of thermal spa’s located all throughout Hungary. These spas are something I have never experienced and you leave the spa in a relaxed state. Some activities that you can participate in when exploring Hungary are touring the ruins and bicycling. The country is recognizing more and more that tourist are interested in visiting Hungary so they are building miles and miles of bike lanes for tourist to travel upon.

Hungary Business Hours and Visa

I really do not have concrete times that businesses are open because many of the businesses posted there times on the front door and every business was different. You will be happy to know if you need to pick up toiletries or extra goods for your travels, Hungary does offer convenience stores that are open 24 hours a day.

If you plan to travel to Hungary from the United States or any other European country that is in the European Union, you do not need a visa for stays up to 90 days.
