As a US citizen you may visit Germany for 90 days to look for work and most of the time this can be moved up. Once you ahve landed your job, you will have to immediately apply for your workers permit in Germany. I recommend applying for this permit in your home state or local German Embassy. Do not work in Germany without a permit, you will be considered illegal and jail time for you and the company will occur.

First First and foremost you will want to find a jobs in Germany of your liking. This can be done by looking on site's such as monster.de or any other job search webiste with the ending of .de which is for deutchland. You will want to do this as soon as you know for sure you want to work in Germany because the the German system is alot slower than most. It could take months or even years to find a job and get a response. Getting your permit in advance will help you in the longrun because this will put you one step ahead of the rest.

So you got the JOB:)))Now What??? Once you have been notified that you have a job make sure to gather all the paperwork you have i.e. contract,letter,visa's etc and submit them to your company so they could get the ball rolling on getting you to work. Some german agencies will ask for a good letter of content or character letter which is pretty much saying you are not a criminal and you will not do anything to harm the german government.

Ok sent the paperwork, now what???Don't worry your almost done:) You must take your finished paperwork to your nearest German Embassy in the U.S.. Plan on taking a trip to germany because Germans like to see you in person for the paperwork.

Here is the easiest and most painful part of ALL Waiting on the ok to begin work. Remember patience. The German system is a alot slow than what you are used to in the states so be patient. Remember it could go from a couple days to months. Wait for approval. This step can take one to three months.

Finally you get word, YOU GOT THE JOB Congradualtions, you will recieve a working visa and your all set and ready to work in germany.

All this being said, this is just a simple scenario that if everything goes right but, different cases will be experienced with different companies so remember patience, patience, patience.
